Biography

Johnny Garrett is the Republican nominee for Tennessee's 6th Congressional District in the 2026 election. A seventh-generation resident of Goodlettsville, he earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and his law degree from the Nashville School of Law. He has practiced law in Sumner County for years, representing small businesses and guiding clients through estate planning and probate matters. Since 2018, he has served in the Tennessee House of Representatives, rising to Majority Whip, where he championed homeowner protections and conservative priorities on immigration and education. He now brings that record to Congress, running to defend Tennessee families and the America First agenda.

Policy Positions

  1. Immigration Enforcement

    Garrett backed Tennessee's 2026 immigration legislative package, developed in coordination with the White House, and supports strong enforcement measures to secure the border and uphold the rule of law.

  2. Protecting Girls' Sports

    He authored and championed state legislation banning biological males from competing in girls' athletics, and plans to carry that fight for fairness in women's sports to Congress.

  3. Homeowner Protections

    Garrett wrote and passed legislation strengthening protections for Tennessee homeowners, signed into law in 2025, reflecting his focus on practical, pocketbook issues for families.

  4. America First Agenda

    Endorsed by House Majority Leader Steve Scalise as a "Christian conservative" dedicated to defending President Trump's America First movement, Garrett plans to support that agenda in Congress on trade, energy, and government spending.
