Biography

John James is a West Point graduate, decorated combat veteran, and successful Detroit businessman fighting to rescue Michigan from years of failed liberal leadership. Backed by President Trump's complete and total endorsement, James rose from the U.S. House, where he served as a fierce America First conservative, to win the Republican nomination for governor in a landslide. Prior to Congress, James grew his family's business, James Group International, from $35 million to $137 million in revenue, creating jobs for Michigan families. Guided by his faith, family, and service, James is running to bring proven, tested conservative leadership back to Lansing and finally put Michigan first.

Policy Positions

  1. Making Michigan Affordable Again

James is fighting to slash the tax burden crushing Michigan families and seniors. He has pledged to lower taxes and tackle rising housing and healthcare costs that have made Michigan unaffordable under Democrat rule, promising real relief instead of empty liberal promises.

  2. Law Enforcement Support

James is a strong supporter of law enforcement and has pushed for real consequences for criminals. As a Senate candidate he backed defunding sanctuary cities and endorsed Kate's Law to crack down on criminal illegal aliens who reenter the country, and as governor he is committed to fully funding and standing behind Michigan's police and first responders.

  3. Restore Academic Excellence and Local Control

James wants power returned to parents and communities, not Lansing bureaucrats. He has campaigned on fixing Michigan's struggling schools, promoting academic excellence, and bringing local control back to families, including support for a parental bill of rights that keeps radical agendas out of the classroom.
