Conservative Achievement

Greg Abbott

Our Endorsement

CPAC proudly endorses governor Greg Abbott in his reelection due to his strong conservative leadership and partnership with President Trump. He secured the border when Washington refused. He banned sanctuary cities, backs law enforcement officers, and is taking on radical DAs who stand with dangerous criminals over the citizens they swore to protect. While blue cities and states descend into chaos, Texas stands as proof that conservative leadership works.

Biography

Greg Abbott has spent more than three decades in public service defending the Constitution, protecting Texas values, and building the strongest state economy in America. Born in Wichita Falls and raised in Duncanville, Abbott earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his law degree from Vanderbilt University. Shortly after law school, a falling tree left him paralyzed while jogging — an ordeal that, rather than slowing him down, forged the resilience and determination that have defined his career ever since. Before becoming governor, Abbott built one of the most distinguished legal careers in Texas history: State District Judge in Harris County, Justice on the Texas Supreme Court, and the 50th and longest-serving Attorney General in state history, where he earned a reputation for taking on Washington overreach in defense of Texans' constitutional liberties. First elected the 48th Governor of Texas in 2014, Abbott has since won approval of nearly all of his conservative priorities, and has won every general election for governor by double digits. Under his leadership, Texas has delivered results conservatives can be proud of: Securing the Border: Abbott launched an unprecedented state-led border security operation, deploying razor wire, barriers, and law enforcement to protect Texans when the federal government would not. Cutting Taxes and Growing the Economy: His administration has delivered billions in property tax relief, and Texas continues to lead the nation in attracting business investment and job creation. Expanding School Choice: Abbott launched the largest day-one school choice program in the nation, a $1 billion universal Education Savings Account program giving every Texas family the power to choose the best education for their child — while also delivering more funding for public education than any other governor in Texas history. Investing in Infrastructure: He secured a $20 billion investment in water infrastructure and $10 billion to strengthen the state's energy grid, preparing Texas for future growth. Defending Texas Values: Abbott has consistently defended the right to life, the Second Amendment, parental rights in education, and law and order — including policies to defund any city that defunds its police. Named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by TIME in 2024, Abbott has proven himself a steady, principled conservative leader who delivers on his promises. Now seeking a historic fourth term, he is positioned to become the longest-serving governor in Texas history — and there is no one better suited to keep building a stronger, freer, more prosperous Texas.
