Biography
Brandon Herrera is the Republican nominee for Texas's 23rd Congressional District in the 2026 election. Raised in the San Antonio area by a family with deep military roots, he grew up with a strong sense of service and support for the Second Amendment. He studied pre-law at Campbell College before leaving to pursue entrepreneurship. Before running for Congress, he founded a Texas-based firearms manufacturing company and built The AK Guy, a YouTube channel with more than half a billion views focused on firearms education and gun rights advocacy, and he now centers his campaign on border security, veterans' care, and cutting federal regulation.
Policy Positions
Border Security
Herrera supports finishing construction of the border wall and tightening enforcement to stop illegal crossings, arguing that a secure border is the foundation of national sovereignty and public safety.
Second Amendment Rights
As a lifelong gun rights advocate and firearms manufacturer, Herrera opposes new restrictions on gun ownership and supports concealed carry reciprocity so law-abiding Americans can exercise their constitutional rights across state lines.
Cutting Federal Regulation
Herrera backs the REINS Act and similar reforms that would require congressional approval of major regulations, aiming to rein in unelected federal agencies and reduce the regulatory burden on businesses and individuals.
Fiscal Responsibility
Herrera advocates for balanced budgets and reduced federal spending, framing lower spending and deregulation together as the path to a stronger, more self-reliant economy.
