Biography
Bill Hagerty is a businessman and diplomat who brings private-sector sense to the Senate. He built a career in investment and business before serving as Tennessee's economic development commissioner, where he helped bring jobs and investment to the state. As U.S. Ambassador to Japan, he strengthened a key alliance against a rising China. Since joining the Senate in 2021, he has championed pro-growth economic policy, a tough line on the Chinese Communist Party, and forward-looking financial legislation, including a framework for stablecoins and digital assets.
