Biography

Serving in Congress since 2013, Andy Barr has spent his career fighting for Kentuckians. An 8th generation Kentuckian, Andy Barr was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, graduating from Henry Clay High School before earning his degree in Government and Philosophy from the University of Virginia. Andy would go on to earn his law degree from the University of Kentucky in 2001, and would go on to work overseeing the U.S. Department of Treasury’s international portfolio before returning home to Kentucky. Barr first entered politics after running for Congress in Kentucky’s 6th District in 2012, beating a long time Democrat incumbent in a tough race. After being elected to Congress, Barr rose to become a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee, Chairman of the Financial Institutions and Monetary Policy Subcommittee, and a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, fighting for Kentucky’s coal industry and against government overreach. Now, Andy Barr is running for U.S. Senate to bring his effective leadership to Washington, and to ensure the needs of Kentuckians are put first.

Policy Positions

  1. Growing the Economy and Cutting Taxes

    Andy Barr knows Kentucky families and small businesses need relief from Washington overspending. In the Senate, Barr will fight to make Trump-era tax cuts permanent and reduce the size and reach of the federal government.

    Andy Barr has a proven track record of delivering results for America’s veterans. In the Senate, Barr will fight to protect the healthcare and benefits earned by the men and women who served this country.
